Story Behind Travel Food Hacks
TravelFoodHacks was born from a lifelong love of food, culture, and discovering the world one bite at a time. Behind this site is a traveler who grew up in the rich culinary traditions of Plovdiv, Bulgaria — a place where food is history, memory, and connection. That early love for bold flavors and homemade dishes shaped everything that came after.
Twenty‑six years ago, life brought me to the East Coast of the United States. I spent nine years in Atlantic City, where I worked in the restaurant industry and learned the behind‑the‑scenes world of ingredients, kitchens, and hospitality. Those years changed the way I understood food — not just as something delicious, but as a craft, a culture, and a story.
Today I live in the New York suburbs, surrounded by an incredible mix of global food cultures. And I travel — a lot. Every summer I return to Bulgaria, exploring mountains, lakes, and the Black Sea coast. On the way, I stop in a different European country each time, tasting my way through Greece, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, England, the Netherlands, and more.
My adventures have taken me far beyond Europe too: Japan’s street food stalls, Taiwan’s night markets, South Korea’s warmth, Armenia’s ancient flavors, Egypt’s magic, Argentina and Uruguay’s passion, Mexico’s colors and spices, the Caribbean’s soul, Costa Rica’s rainforests, and the diverse food scenes across the United States and Canada.
But the best part? Sharing these experiences with the people I love — laughing over street tacos, discovering tiny cafés, or trying something completely new together.
